Celebrations: Rio’s family were also part of the wedding party
Kate revealed to OK! that their nuptials didn’t come without some major stress, as she was tasked with finding a new wedding dress with just one week to spare.
She explained: ‘I had been having a dress made since January but it all went wrong and it just wasn’t made right. A week before we flew to Turkey, I still didn’t have a dress. it was a total nightmare and I was stressed!’
The newlywed beauty added: ‘I had to have an entire new dress made by The Wedding Club and fitted within a week. In the end I adored my dress and preferred it to the original. Some things are meant to be.’
And when things finally did come together on the day, football pundit Rio admitted the tears flowed as he watched his daughter Tia, eight, served as Kate’s maid of honour, while his sons Lorenz, 13, and Tate, 11, walked her halfway down the aisle.
Rio was previously married to Rebecca Ellison, who sadly passed away from breast cancer on 2 May 2015, aged 34.
The retired footballer popped the question to Kate in front of his three children during a family holiday to Dubai in November last year, after nearly two years of dating.
