Kate Ceberano reveals the lusty act she finds more intimate than sex – and how it left many of her boyfriends feeling ‘used’

Kate Ceberano has opened up about the strange obsession she once had with kissing, which left many of her former boyfriend’s feeling ‘used’.

The Pash singer, 56, told this week’s Stellar magazine she finds kissing to be a more intimate than act sex itself – and used to go around kissing everyone she could.

‘I was giving them away because I felt like I couldn’t get enough. I was actually disappointed later when we got to the fumbling and the actual sex act,’ she recalled of a previous sexual encounter.

‘To me, kissing is more intimate than the sex. Speaking in tongue is the most personal thing you could choose to do.’

Kate dishes on this surprise obsession and her 40 years in the music industry in her upcoming memoir, Unsung – A Compendium Of Creativity, available November 1.

She also sheds light on her brief attempt to become an actress in the 90s and why she quickly abandoned it and returned to music.

‘I was a s**t actor. The thing I concluded about Hollywood is being a musician is so much cooler, because everything you do is innovated by yourself and the creativity comes from you,’ she said.

Kate has been making several surprising admissions this year.

The singer admitted her self-worth took a dive when she couldn’t perform for audiences.

‘I think I felt like I was completely pointless. I felt I had nothing I could do that was of value to anyone or for anyone,’ she told The Daily Telegraph.

‘All my life I’ve been able to make a person sing along, make Friday night better. During Covid, I just felt completely useless. I just thought I better start to decide where I want to see myself coming out of Covid. What value am I going to have?’

Kate lives in Melbourne with her film director husband Lee Rogers and their daughter Gypsy, 19.

The stunner first rose to fame in the early 80s as the lead singer of the pioneering Melbourne funk-pop band I’m Talking.
