Australian Idol winner Kate DeAruago was fined $500 and spared a conviction on Friday after pleading guilty to ice possession and drug driving.
The 32-year-old, who won Channel Ten’s top-rated reality show back in 2005, did not appear for the case at Castlemaine Magistrates Court in Victoria.
The star tested positive to ice after being pulled over in Castlemaine on September 26.

During proceedings on Friday, Magistrate Patrick Southey slammed Kate’s celebrity status, describing her as ‘a minor celebrity from ten years ago’, according to The Herald Sun.
He added: ‘What show was she on, how many years ago? Eleven years ago, Australian Idol?’
In addition to testing positive to ice, an antique knife and a small amount of the drug was found in the vehicle.

Despite the $500 fine, Kate avoided conviction for a second time.
Last month, she faced court for a separate drug driving offence.
On June 15 she was caught drug driving in Shepparton, regional Victoria, and appeared for sentencing at Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on November 10.

She received a 12-month community correction order after being found with a small amount of ice and a tomahawk axe inside her car.
The Young Divas star has struggled with drug addiction, but on Friday Magistrate Southey noted ‘her rehabilitation was on track’.
Her last single ‘Shut Your Mouth’ was released in 2015.
