She said at the event: ‘It’s our first time out since February 2020 so we are really excited, and this is a date that has sprung up because it was going to happen a few weeks ago and then it didn’t happen and then we just thought, ‘Let’s go for it’ – so very exciting.’

Speaking about Derek she added: ‘It was very strange leaving him tonight to come out because he is a big fan of magic, but it is not possible at the moment so we just said next time and see him when we get back.’

It comes after Kate was left in fits of giggles on Friday when she was shown a GMB throwback clip from 2017 in which she was taught how to do the breaststroke while laying on a bench, much to the amusement of Richard Madeley and Ranvir Singh.

The presenter kicked her legs around while looking incredibly focused as she was taught how to swim properly by Olympian Adam Peaty.

Wearing a form-fitting floral print pencil dress, Kate lay on her front next to Adam and could be seen moving her arms and kicking her legs around akimbo.

As Richard and Ranvir could be heard giggling away, Kate insisted: ‘I was concentrating! It was a revelation to me.’

Pronouncing the word her own unique way, she added: ‘Andy told me I’d been doing the ‘breast strock’ wrong all along. How I’m doing in there is how you do it.

‘I also have an odd centre of gravity that makes it hard,’ added Kate.

Shortly before being reminded of her hilarious attempt at swimming, Kate revealed that part of her London home was flooded following torrential rain amid her husband Derek Draper’s recovery from coronavirus.

The TV host said the disruption had been a ‘total nightmare and nuisance’ as the lower areas of the home were left underwater.

Discussing the bad news on GMB, she explained to weather man Alex Beresford: ‘My weather week has been…I have lived the weather of the week, Alex.

‘Severe flooding in the storms on Monday night so woke up on Tuesday morning to find…we live on a hill – so you come in the door at one level and you go down the steps to the back garden – everything underneath completely flooded.’

‘Completely flooded. Total nuisance. It”s been a total nightmare.’

The mother-of-two revealed that she had been helped by her close family members throughout the crisis, including husband Derek’s father.

The flooding is the latest blow for Kate as her husband Derek continues to recover at home from his lengthy battle with Covid-19 which previously proved near-fatal after he first fell sick last year.

Derek was released from the hospital in March this year after being first diagnosed in March 2020.
