Kate Garraway has vowed to set up Alex Beresford with Love Island beauty Amy Hart after he split from his wife Natalia.
The presenter, 53, joked she may need to play matchmaker after Amy, 27, bemoaned she followed her ‘favourite crush’ Alex, 39, on social media, but he did not follow her back.
It came after Kate quizzed Alex on whether he was using the dating app Tinder, following claims there was a fraudulent account in his name circulating on the site.

After Alex confirmed that wasn’t currently using any of the dating apps, Kate revealed that Amy had named him as her favourite crush during an interview with Entertainment Daily.
She said: ‘You’re already very popular, Alex – and Amy Hart, absolutely gorgeous girl, came forward to say you are her favourite crush.’
Alex then added: ‘Apparently she followed me on Instagram a few days ago and she’s upset that I didn’t follow her back, so maybe I’ll go on Instagram right now…’

Excited about the prospect of playing matchmaker for her colleague, Kate said: ‘So Amy, you’re watching, he’s going to get in touch – that’s exciting!’
Alex seemed shocked that Kate had accidentally made a cheeky innuendo, saying: ‘Am I? I said that I was going to follow her, I didn’t say I was going to slide in, Kate!’
Clarifying her statement Kate added: ‘You weren’t going to slide into the DMs?’
As Alex awkwardly apologised for the cheeky statement, he said: ‘Oh hello – it’s all getting very exciting, I’m getting all hot and bothered!’

In June Alex revealed that he had secretly split from his wife Natalia, despite ‘desperately trying to make things work.’
He detailed his personal woes for the Britain Get Talking podcast as he admitted he’s felt ‘really lonely’ since parting ways from the mother of his child, Cruz, 10, two weeks before lockdown kicked in.
Alex said he ‘never imagined’ that he would be once again looking for love as he reached the age of 40 and had felt like his life had been mapped out.
He said: ‘It’s been a massive learning curve, I didn’t think at the age of 20 that when I was approaching 40, I would be in this situation.
‘The age of 40, you’ll be married, you’ll be a grown up, you’ll have a kid or two, your life is going to be set. I’m not old, I don’t feel old, it’s a bit daunting.
Awkward! Alex went red-faced after Kate told Amy that he’d ‘get in touch,’ leading him to say: ‘I’m getting all hot and bothered!’
‘But we’ve been in lockdown, so even if I wanted to go on a date, I couldn’t go on a date.
‘I don’t want to grow old on my own, life is for sharing and it’d be great to meet someone in the future but they have to be right for me, right for Cruz.’
Alex continued to live with Natalia after they split last year as they didn’t want to rush their separation but his ex and his son moved out before Covid: 19 struck.
