Kate Langbroek calls out Barnaby Joyce new relationship

Radio personality Kate Langbroek has called out Barnaby Joyce’s relationship with his former staffer, saying it’s ‘horrible, hideous and terrible’.

Taking to the airwaves, Langbroek expressed her anger after the news broke that the Deputy Prime Minister, 50, and Vikki Campion, 33, are expecting a baby in April.

Speaking on Hughesy and Kate on 2DayFM, the Australian radio host took a swipe at women who sleep with married men by delivering a powerful message.

‘It happens a lot, but here’s the thing and maybe I say this because I am a woman,’ Langbroek said.

‘Don’t get me wrong, I totally hold Barnaby Joyce to account for his own actions. But I’m not a man, so all I can speak for is on behalf of myself as a woman and to other women: Stop f***ing married men. Just don’t do it. Stop doing it.’

‘You might think you are getting something out of it, you know you’re not. You are getting so much pain and misery and bad juju from that.’

Langbroek told her co-host Dave Hughes she believed ‘people fall in love all the time when relationships are complicated’.

‘But when you sleep with a married man, you’re a bad person,’ she added.

‘You can put whatever spin on it you want, but you’re a rotten person. So is the rotten man you slept with.

‘Having an affair with a married man is not a feminist act. It’s the opposite. It is in fact extremely destructive of the journey another woman has to go on in her life.’

Her remarks come shortly after Natalie Joyce released a statement claiming her husband had an affair, which went on for months.

She said she sacrificed her own career to support him.

‘For my girls who are affected by the family breakdown and for me as a wife of 24 years, who placed my own career on hold to support Barnaby through his political life,’ Ms Joyce said.

‘Our family life has had to be shared during Barnaby’s political career and it was with trust that we let campaign and office staff into our homes and into our lives.

‘Naturally we also feel deceived and hurt by the actions of Barnaby and the staff member involved.’

Appearing on ABC’s 7.30 on Wednesday, Mr Joyce refused to answer questions about his relationship with Ms Campion when host Leigh Sales pressed him.

‘What I want to do is make sure private matters remain private, I don’t think it profits anybody to drag private matters out into the public arena,’ he said.

Speaking about his marriage breakdown, Mr Joyce told Ms Sales: ‘One of the greatest failures of my life was the end of my marriage.

‘That was obviously a tumultuous time, but I’m not going to start disseminating beyond that. It is very painful for everyone involved. I’m not proud of it.’

In December, Mr Joyce revealed his split from the mother of his four daughters.

Full statement from Natalie Joyce

I am deeply saddened by the news that my husband has been having an affair and is now having a child with a former staff member.

I understand that this affair has been going on for many months and started when she was a paid employee.

This situation is devastating on many fronts.

For my girls who are affected by the family breakdown and for me as a wife of 24 years, who placed my own career on hold to support Barnaby through his political life.

Our family life has had to be shared during Barnaby’s political career and it was with trust that we let campaign and office staff into our homes and into our lives.

Naturally we also feel deceived and hurt by the actions of Barnaby and the staff member involved.

The situation for myself and the girls will be made worse by the fact that this will all be played out in public so at this time.

I would ask that the girls and I are given some privacy and time to come to terms with the consequences and take steps to plan our future.
