But Kate Mara looked worlds away from her dour character when she attend a drive-in For Your Consideration event at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena on Monday night.
The 38-year-old actress was joined by her costar Nick Robinson, 26, and A Teacher’s creator and director Hannah Fidell, 35, for a screening of the series’ first episode and a conversation afterward.

Although Eric starts the relationship, the adult teacher does nothing to stop it amid her failing marriage.
Much of the series takes place after the relationship ends with Claire going to jail and Eric attending college, but it leaves long-lasting scars on the him.
For the drive-in event, voting members of the Television Academy, which puts on the Emmy Awards, were given food and drink in their vehicles and were allowed to watch the episode and conversation from their cars.

In a recent interview with IndieWire, Fidell shared that she was intrigued by the possibility of redoing the feature film version of A Teacher, while also confront the changing world in the wake of the Me Too movement.
‘The cultural shift with #MeToo made me able to be open and want to dive into my own experience with sexual assault and what it means to be a victim and the changing nature of victimhood,’ she said.
Kate is currently in the midst of filming the series Call Jane with Elizabeth Banks and Sigourney Weaver.
She welcomed her first child, a daughter, in May 2019 with her husband and fellow Actor Jamie Bell, 35, though they haven’t announced her name publicly.
