Kate Middleton, 38, recycled a teal Catherine Walker coat first worn during a tour of Norway in 2018 as she joined Prince William, 38, for the first stop of their Christmas Express tour in Edinburgh today.

And she kicked off the tour at Euston station last night by rewearing a smart green Alexander McQueen coat to board the Royal Train for the first of nine stops on their whirlwind 48 hour, 1,250-mile tour.

Meanwhile the royal also chose accessories from her personal collection, adding  £10 pearl drop earrings from Accessorize and finishing her look with the Maple Leaf Tartan Scarf by York Scarves, first seen in 2016.

The Maple Leaf tartan was the official national tartan of Canada designated in 2011.

The colours represent the four colours of the maple leaf through the seasons: green in summer, gold in early autumn, red at first frost and brown when the leaf has fallen.

Kate chose to wear her glossy brunette locks in loose, bouncy waves around her shoulders and kept her make-up relatively natural, with a dusting of brown eye shadow for the occasion.

Before climbing aboard the royal train last night, the couple took time out to meet transport workers at the station to hear about their experiences of working throughout the pandemic.

The royals were also treated to a special performance by Shakin’ Stevens, with Kate swaying to the music and tapping her foot.

William and Kate were keen to personally pass on their thanks to Transport for London, Network Rail and train operating companies for everything they have done to keep the capital running throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
