Kate Ritchie pays tribute to daughter Mae on her ninth birthday as she shares rare family portrait
Kate Ritchie has paid tribute to her daughter, Mae, on her ninth birthday.
Kate, who shares her daughter with ex-NRL star Stuart Webb, shared a photo of Mae on Thursday in Wendy Whitley’s Secret Garden in Sydney.
The Nova star called the pre-teen the ‘greatest human’ she knows, and praised her for choosing Kate as her mother.
‘This is my girl. She turns nine today. She is the greatest human I know and I am the luckiest, most grateful human that she chose me to be her Mumma,’ Kate wrote.
‘She is the funniest, most kind and clever little girl. She reminds me that life and the world is wonderful. She is brave and adventurous and energetic,’ she continued.

‘She knows how to love and be loved. She challenges me, educates me and makes me want to be a better person, every day.’
‘She is creative and entertaining and is dancing and bounding through her precious life,’ she added.
Kate went on to offer an inspirational message to the youngster.
‘Remember, my darlin’, this is your time and you only ever belong to you. You are going to do wonderful things and I can only hope I am there, by your side, for many of them and when I am not I will be loving, watching and cheering you on from within that big heart of yours,’ she finished.
In December, Daily Mail Australia broke the news Ritchie had entered an exclusive private mental health facility in Sydney to help treat her alcohol dependency.
The former Home and Away star told The Sunday Telegraph that after struggling with several personal challenges last year she decided it was time to seek help.
‘It was a long time coming. I sought professional help, the help that I needed. Sometimes enough is enough,’ she said.

Following treatment she spoke about Mae being her ‘purpose’ and ‘strength’, during an interview with The Sunday Telegraph in May.
‘Mae gives me incredible purpose and strength and she is one of the few people who allow me to be truly me. Nothing more or less,’ she said.
‘I am merely her mummy and she loves me for that. In fact, if I am to be really honest, as she gets older she is also teaching me I am deserving of love.’
The star went on to say it has been a ‘big year – a big few years.’
