Kate Walsh ditches Hollywood glamour and opts for a laid-back look at the Dune premiere in Perth – after relocating to Western Australia

She first relocated to Australia in March last year amid the coronavirus pandemic.

And it seems that after just over a year living Down Under, American actress Kate Walsh is well and truly fitting in with the locals.

On Wednesday, the 54-year-old Greys Anatomy star ditched the Hollywood glam and showed off her laid back style as she attended the Dune premiere in Perth.

Kate, who is also known for her roles in Emily in Paris and The Umbrella Academy, kept things simple and casual in a pair of black trousers and a black singlet.

She added a pop of colour by wearing a purple and white plaid jacket on top.

But perhaps in an ode to her Hollywood roots, Kate wore an oversized beige Chanel bag over her shoulders, which retails for around $11,000 for a pre-loved vintage design.

Kate wore natural-looking makeup and wore her dark locks back and off her face.

She also accessorised with a pair silver aviator-style glasses.

She appeared in high spirits as she stepped out for the premiere, beaming as she made her way into the theatre.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph about her new love affair with Australia recently, the actress explained she didn’t want to go back to her New York home.

‘I didn’t really want to go back to New York in the middle of a pandemic when it was pretty gnarly to say the least,” she said.

‘I couldn’t go home initially, and now that I can, I don’t really fancy going back. When I have my own mother saying don’t come home, my 86-year-old mum… we are in a very challenging time!’

Claiming to have found a new ‘passion project’, Kate revealed recently her plans to help bolster Australia’s local film industry after it suffered enormously due to global pandemic.

In June, Kate jetted off to Paris, presumably to shoot the hit Netflix show, Emily in Paris.

But at the time, she assured Western Australians she was going to return, revealing she was leaving her pets behind with her team in the interim.
