Kath and Kim star Jane Turner sells stunning five-bedroom Melbourne home for eye-watering profit

Jane Turner and her husband John Denton have sold their stunning five-bedroom Melbourne mansion.

The beloved Kath and Kim star, 63, originally purchased the Elwood property in 1997 for $800,000, and spent years renovating it and building onto it to increase its value.

The couple’s mansion went to auction on Saturday for a starting price of $7.1m, but initially failed to attract a buyer.

However, an interested party later contacted the power couple and they managed to reach an agreement to purchase the property for around $8m, reports Australian Financial Review.

The couple had been trying to sell the property since 2020, but were significantly delayed due to Covid restrictions.

The breathtaking home was originally built in the 1880s and features spacious rooms, a wine cellar and a marble-tiled verandah.

The Tiuna Grove property also features an expansive outdoor pool and a well-maintained garden, which is overlooked by a value-adding extension.

It was extended in the early 2000s by architecture firm Jackson Clements Burrows, connecting the original house to old stables at the rear with a modern extension featuring timber ceilings.

It is perfect for families and entertaining and also features a large dining area, library, and home office.

Its desirable location is close to a variety of amenities including Elwood Beach, shopping centres, restaurants and bars, and it was expected to generate significant interest among potential buyers.

Despite the modern enhancements, Turner kept the late 19th century heritage features including a stained glass window and a covered verandah with Victorian lacework.
