Katharine McPhee sweetly kisses her son Rennie, two, while on tropical getaway

Katharine McPhee shared a sweet snap featuring her son Rennie on her Instagram Story on Sunday.

In the photo, the 39-year-old singer planted a kiss on her child, two, as they enjoyed a tropical getaway.

The songwriter, who recently rode a float in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, donned a white dress.

McPhee also sported a sleeveless purple shirt and accessorized with a pair of dark sunglasses.

The American Idol runner-up’s gorgeous brunette hair remained free-flowing and fell towards her shoulders while she posed for the snap.

The singer shares her son with her husband, David Foster, whom she began seeing in May of 2017.

McPhee and the 74-year-old music producer became engaged in 2018, and they held a wedding ceremony that took place in London in 2019.

The hitmaker was formerly married to Nick Cokas from 2008 until 2016, although they had been separated for three years prior to their divorce.

Foster shares his five older daughters, including Sara and Erin, with several of his former partners and spouses.

McPhee revealed her pregnancy to the public in February of 2021, and she gave birth to Rennie that same month.

The performer has occasionally shared photos and videos featuring her son on her Instagram account. 

The singer spoke about her parenting style during a recent interview with People, where she discussed making an effort to be more gentle with her child.

‘My take is that you can have more mindful parenting opposed to just assuming that a two or three-year-old can have time alone to reflect on what they’ve done poorly,’ she said.

McPhee went on to contrast the older and more direct ways of raising children with more modern and sympathetic methods.

‘I think the more new way of parenting is understanding that with a child, there’s only so much that they can intellectually understand,’ she said.

The hitmaker then stated that she was not fond of being overtly direct with her criticism of her child’s behavior. 

‘Saying “That was really bad, that was really, really bad,” gets into a shaming thing. I think disciplining is something that happens over time,’ she said.
