Kathy Griffin refuses to apologize for Trump mask drama

Kathy Griffin retracted her apology after she posed with a gory fake Donald Trump head, saying that anger should be directed at the president and his administration.

The feisty comedienne appeared on Australia’s Sunrise Show on Tuesday to promote her international comedy tour.

However during her appearance, attention was quickly directed to Trump as she slammed the president and his actions.

Kathy Griffin appeared on Australia’s Sunrise Show on Tuesday to promote her international comedy tour, where she also addressed the controversial photo shoot with a severed Donald Trump head

One Sunrise host, Samantha Armytage, pressed her on whether it was out of line to pose for photos and a video with a mask of Trump covered in tomato sauce, alluding to his severed head.

‘Even Democrats said it was out of line, I get that comedy is about pushing the boundaries… but do you not agree that that picture holding up a severed head – I know it’s a mask covered in tomato sauce – but do you not accept that was a little bit over the line?’ Armytage asked.

Griffin fired back: ‘You’re full of c***. Stop acting like my little picture is more important than talking about the actual atrocities that the president of the United States is committing.’

She made headlines back in May when photos of her holding a fake, bloodied depiction of President Trump’s head surfaced online.

She took part in the photoshoot with controversial photographer Tyler Shields.

‘So the picture happened, the outrage was ridiculous, I made an apology, and now in light of all the crazy stuff that he (Trump) and this administration are doing… He’s unhinged,’ she said on the morning show.

The comedian condemned Trump’s pardon of former Arizona lawman Joe Arpaio and the president’s call for a ban on military service by transgender people. She also referred to Trump as a ‘fool,’ among other derogatory terms.

After the backlash she called a press conference in California to set the record straight on her controversial photoshoot.

A tearful Griffin defended herself saying she was merely exercising her First Amendment rights: ‘I didn’t think people would threaten to murder me or mobilize people to murder me.’

‘I don’t think I will have a career after this. He broke me, and then I was like, “No, this isn’t right.” And then I apologized and then I realized what was really happening and then it was a mob mentality,’ she said, with her attorney Lisa Bloom by her side.

However, the apology wasn’t enough to save her as she was fired from her most high-profile job as co-host of CNN’s New Year’s Eve Celebration. Additionally, many of her comedy gigs were canceled.

Griffin recently revealed that her friendship with CNN anchor Anderson Cooper is ‘over’ after he publicly condemned her over a controversial photo shoot.

Speaking New York Magazine, Griffin said: ‘Our friendship is over,’ as she spoke about Cooper.

Signs that their friendship was on the rocks came after Cooper tweeted his disdain for Griffin’s actions at the time: ‘For the record, I am appalled by the photo shoot Kathy Griffin took part in. It is clearly disgusting and completely inappropriate.’
