Less than a month ago Kathy underwent surgery to help keep her lung cancer at bay as doctors removed half of her left lung.
Prior to the procedure she told her followers: ‘The doctors are very optimistic as it is stage one and contained to my left lung.’
‘Hopefully no chemo or radiation after this and I should have normal function with my breathing. I should be up and running around as usual in a month or less,’ she continued to say.
Griffin told her followers that she was ‘fully vaccinated for Covid,’ noting that ‘the consequences for being unvaccinated would have been even more serious.’
Back at home: Griffin was seen resting at her LA home on August 6 following the procedure
Griffin, who recently publicly revealed a substance abuse issue with prescription medication, took to Instagram on August 4 to update fans on how she was faring in the wake of the procedure.
‘To be honest, this cancer surgery was a little more than I had anticipated,’ she wrote. ‘Tonight will be my first night without any narcotic pain killers. Hello Tylenol, my new best friend! The last time I was in a hospital was in June 2020 when I tried to take my own life and overdosed on prescription pills.’
She added, ‘With over a year clean and drug free, I now know I can do this and anything I want without those devil pills. Y’know what? I fear drugs and addiction more than I fear cancer. So, I think I’ll be ok.’
