Katie Cassidy reveals father David Cassidy’s last words

Katie Cassidy has shared a poignant message in the wake of her father David Cassidy’s death on Tuesday.

The Arrow actress broke her silence on social media to reveal the late singer’s last words before he passed away from organ failure at the age of 67.

The 30-year-old, who had a complicated relationship with her father, wrote on Twitter on Friday: ‘Words cant express the solace our family’s received from all the love & support during this trying time,

‘My father’s last words were ‘So much wasted time.’ This will be a daily reminder for me to share my gratitude with those I love as to never waste another minute… Thank you.’

Katie didn’t have a close relationship with David and they weren’t speaking in recent years.

The Flash star was raised by her mother Sherry Williams and her stepfather Richard Benedon.

In 2009 the Daydreamer singer opened up about his friendship with his daughter.

‘Because I didn’t raise her, I didn’t have to parent her,’ David told People. ‘I’m always here and totally nonjudgmental.

Katie said: ‘To be able to go to someone I’m genetically linked to, tell them anything and know that they’re not going to judge me — it’s unbelievable,’ adding, ‘it’s nice when your dad can be your friend.’

However, the duo drifted apart to the point they were no longer in contact, which David revealed to People in February.

‘I wasn’t her father. I was her biological father but I didn’t raise her. She has a completely different life,’ he explained. ‘[But] I’m proud of her. She’s very talented. It’s hard for me to even accept how old she is now.’

David, who announced earlier this year that he had been diagnosed with dementia, died surrounded by his family, a family statement released by publicist JoAnn Geffen said on Tuesday.

The Partridge Family star had been admitted to intensive care last week and a doctor told the family that his only hope for survival was to undergo a liver transplant.

However, it was quickly ruled out since he would not have been able to withstand the surgery.

David is survived by son Beau Cassidy; brothers Shaun, Patrick and Ryan; stepmother Shirley Jones; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
