Katie Holmes, 45, embraces her gray roots in NYC after earning raves for her Broadway performance

Katie Holmes appears to be taking a break from going to the hair dresser.

The actress, 45 – who was spotted with her daughter Suri Cruise, 18, during her college break – was displaying her gray roots as she made her way to work Friday in New York City.

The Alone Together star was all smiles as she chatted on the phone as she made her way to the Barrymore theater where she is starring in the revival of Thornton Wilder’s Our Town. Her performance has been called ‘phenomenal.’

The more natural hair may be an attempt to embrace her character, Mrs. Webb, a middle-aged woman in pre-WWI America.

Holmes appeared makeup free behind her wide sunglasses, and donned a colorful ensemble for her stroll through the Big Apple.

The Rare Objects director and star stepped out in bright red wide leg pants with a pink sweater beneath an oversized vintage looking denim blazer.

She wore black patent leather flats and carried a white shoulder bag.

Our Town officially opened on October 10 after weeks of previews.

In the audience to cheer Holmes on were her parents, Martin and Kathleen, along with her sisters Nancy Kay, Tamera and Holly Ann.

‘Thank you to my family for coming to @ourtownbroadway two nights in a row!’ she wrote next to a backstage photo. ‘I love you and am so very blessed. ❤️’

Holmes made her Broadway debut in 2008, appearing in Arthur Miller’s All My Sons, with John Lithgow, Patrick Wilson and Diane Wiest.

In 2012 she starred in Dead Accounts with Tony winner Nobert Leo Butz.

She starred in The Wanderers off-Broadway from February until April 2023.

The empty nester has plenty on her plate. When she finishes her current Broadway run, she will begin prep on her next project, Captivated.

She will star with Oscar winner Al Pacino and Toby Kebbell in the film based on the kidnapping of John Paul Getty, III, in the 1970.  He was the grandson of J. Paul Getty, who was at that time, the world’s richest man.

Holmes will star as the victim’s mother, Gail. Pacino and Kebbell will star as older and younger versions of a Calabrian mafia boss Saro Mammoliti, who endangers his organization when he falls in love with Gail during ransom negotiations.

Production is set to begin in winter 2025 in Italy.
