Katie Holmes, 45, embraces her gray roots while modeling a chic outfit in NYC… after daughter Suri Cruise’s visit

Katie Holmes looked very happy as she was spotted in New York City on Thursday just hours before an 8 pm performance of her Broadway play Our Town.

The Dawson’s Creek star, 45, was the epitome of fall style in a beige turtleneck and wide-legged jeans from Banana Republic.

She also wore an off-white wool coat and black shoes with the ensemble.

The movie star – who still has a very youthful appearance – was also seen embracing her gray roots.

This comes after a visit from her daughter Suri Cruise who recently started her freshman year at Carnegie Mellon University in Pennsylvania.

The First Daughter star recently received rave reviews for her performance in Our Town.

Katie plays Mrs Webb in the new production and her performance has been called ‘phenomenal’ and ‘amazing.’

Our Town – a play written by Thornton Wilder – has returned to the Broadway stage for the first time in over 20 years.

The revival features a total of 28 actors, including Holmes, Jim Parsons, Zoey Deutch, Ephraim Sykes, Julie Halston and Michelle Wilson.

Suri came home from college to watch her mother in the play and was the first person in the audience to jump to her feet with applause when the play ended, the New York Daily News reported.

Katie plans to visit Suri, whom she shares with her ex-husband Tom Cruise, 62, at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh soon.

Suri may be studying acting and dance in college.

Holmes told Town & Country magazine that after college, her daughter wants to enter showbiz.

Suri contributed vocals in songs for two of her mother’s films – the 2023 drama Rare Objects and 2022 romantic drama Alone Together, which Katie also wrote and directed.

‘I’m proud of my daughter. Of course, I will miss the close proximity, but I’m really proud of her and I’m happy,’ she gushed.

‘I remember being this age, this time of beginnings. It’s exciting to learn about yourself, and I loved that time, so it makes me happy to think about it like that.’

During an interview with Glamour last year, Katie said that she has tried to encourage Suri’s performing on her projects.

‘I hope she always does something on my films,’ Holmes said. ‘I always ask her.’

Holmes said that ‘both of those experiences came out of the same sense of what I love about our industry, which is, you have these projects and you become a family with people.’
