Katy Perry goes back to her signature long black hair as she arrives to American Idol

She made a name for herself as a black haired pop song singing beauty.

Shining out from behind her newly-darkened hair were a pair of dazzling 8 Other Reasons earrings.

She was seen just two days prior with short cropped blonde hair while performing in Mexico City.

Meanwhile during the evening’s episode which aired on ABC Katy got all hot and bothered over Texan rocker Cade Foehner as he made it into the top five on Sunday’s American Idol.

The pious 21-year-old had just sung Jungle Love, which Prince wrote, when Katy almost swooned off the stage.

‘I know that you’re a man of god but honestly I was feeling a little backslidden watching over you, I don’t know what is coming over me, I could be your babysitter,’ growled the 33-year-old pop star.

‘The children are out of control,’ giggled Lionel Richie, as Katy fanned her face and armpits theatrically.

The Roar singer’s mother, who was in the audience, also has a colossal crush on Cade.

‘Mom, are you OK? My mom’s praying in tongues right now,’ added Katy.

Cade’s performance was part of Season 16’s nostalgia night where the top seven performed one Prince song and one track from the year they were born.

Quirky Pennsylvanian Catie Turner and Jurnee, a gay army wife from Colorado, were eliminated after a pubic vote.

Cade’s birthday song was Jewel’s 1996 track Who Will Save Your Soul.

Katy took the opportunity to embarrass her mother again.

‘She’s obsessed with you, sorry dad,’ she told Caleb.

Jurnee did Prince’s classic Kiss.

‘Congratulations, you took care of business,’ said Lionel, who also praised her stage partner, Sheila E., a musician who worked with Prince ‘throughout every part of his career.’

‘Well you look like a snack,’ cooed Katy, who wanted more ‘teeth’ from Jurnee next time.

‘The point is to spread his [Prince’s] legacy,’ added Sheila E.

For her birth year track Jurnee chose her parents wedding song Brian McKnight’s Back At One from 1999.

‘For me, that wasn’t my favorite rendition of the song,’ said Katy.
