Keanu Reeves provided a dramatic recreation of how he broke his kneecap while filming on Monday during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

The 59-year-old actor was asked by Stephen, 60, how the man known for playing action characters such as Neo and John Wick injured his left knee.

‘What happened? Who got to you?,’ Stephen asked.

‘No one got to me,’ Keanu said humorously in a tough guy voice.

‘Accident got to me,’ he explained.

‘Were you jumping from building to building? Were you doing a cart wheel passed razor blades? What were you doing?,’ Stephen asked.

‘No, Stephen, I was walking into the dressing room, a room. I will tell it quick,’ Keanu said.

He explained how he was filming a scene for the upcoming comedy Good Fortune with Aziz Ansari, 41, and Seth Rogen, 42, and they were in a cold plunge.

Keanue said he was loving it and when they were finished he was doing the ‘cold shuffle’.

He said he was doing the ‘cold shuffle’ in a room that had protective carpets down, but his foot got caught in a pocket while he was shuffling.

Keanu stood up and walked in front of Stephen’s desk to demonstrate how he fell and his knee failed him.

‘And I spiked. Like, spiked,’ Keanu said as he showed his knee moving down.

‘Just drove it into the ground,’ Stephen said.

‘My patella, kneecap, cracked like a potato chip. But I didn’t know that. But then once my knee was blowing up,’ Keanu said.

‘Comedy is hard, man,’ Keanu quipped.

‘That’s what I was going to ask. This was not an action film with Aziz and Rogen,’ Stephen said.

‘No, it was comedy,’ Keanu confirmed.

‘Welcome to my life,’ Stephen joked.

Keanu was spotted filming in January on crutches and with an ice pack on his knee.

Good Fortune is the directorial debut for Aziz who also wrote the film and is a co-producer.
