Kell Brook in talks with Chris Eubank Jr over July pay-per-view grudge match with fight weight still to be decided… as Sheffield fighter eyes summer return after dominant win over rival Amir Khan

Kell Brook and Chris Eubank Jr are in talks over a potential summer bout, according to Boxxxer CEO Ben Shalom.
Eubank Jr was in the AO Arena in February to watch Brook’s impressive TKO victory over rival Amir Khan – and now looks likely to share the ring with the Sheffield fighter in a summer grudge match.
Brook had been linked with either a rematch with Khan or a potential retirement following the victory – but Shalom says the boxer is ‘probably going to fight in July in a big fight’.

Chris Eubank Jr is said to be interested in a fight with Brook following his recent win
Speaking to SecondsOut, Shalom said: ‘Kell Brook wants to fight, so he’s probably going to fight in July in a big fight.’
He said: ‘I think there’s no denying Chris wants the Kell Brook fight.
‘And I think Kell will take the Chris fight if the terms are right and if the weight is right.
‘We’ve started positive conversations now with Kalle, we’re working towards that, we think that will happen.’
In 2016, Brook moved up two weight classes to replace Eubank in a middleweight world title fight with Gennady Golovkin, where he lost via TKO.
It’s understood that Eubank wants Brook to move back to middleweight – but the Sheffield fighter wants to do it at a catchweight.

Another concern over the fight is the potential clash with Anthony Joshua’s bout against Oleksandr Usyk – but Shalom says he is in touch with Freddie Cunningham to ensure that doesn’t happen.
Shalom said: ‘The problem with us at the moment is Usyk-Joshua, we’re sort of having to work our schedule around that.
‘So, we have big fights that we want to announce but we need to make sure we don’t clash. We’re speaking to Freddie a lot about that fight but making sure we don’t clash with that date.
‘And that’s the bit of delay on the May/June schedule at the moment and I know it’s as frustrating for Eddie [Hearn] as it probably is for us.’
