Kelly Clarkson shares if she’ll walk down the aisle again following Brandon Blackstock divorce… and says she’s happily single

Kelly Clarkson opened up about her love life following her contentious divorce from Brandon Blackstock.

Chatting with People as the magazine’s latest cover star, the 41-year-old talk show host dished on whether or not she wants to get married again.

The mother-of-two — who said she entered therapy following the messy split — said about possibly walking down the aisle a second time: ‘It can happen; it doesn’t have to happen. For my kids, I definitely would never even think about it until they’re out of my house.’

Clarkson shares daughter River, nine, and son Remington, seven, with her ex, who is also her former manager.

And the American Idol winner also admitted, ‘I never wanted to get married the first time.’

She explained, ‘[Brandon] had children, a religious background, and it was important, I think, for him. But I’ve never been that person. Because I’ve been through a couple divorces in my family, I just don’t like to put any weight on it.’

Kelly also mentioned that at the current moment, she’s happily single. ‘I’m really good right now, I’m having a good time,’ she said.

‘Dating sucks,’ she confessed, describing it as ‘awkward.’

‘I was single until I was, like, 30, and I forgot how really good at that I am,’ she expressed. I told a friend [that a potential partner] would have to be an individual that brings their own life to the table without needing anything from me. It’s far more romantic to say, “I want you, but I don’t need anything.”‘

Following the finalization of their divorce in 2022, Clarkson was ordered to pay $45k a month in child support for their kids — daughter River, nine, and son Remington, seven.

Blackstock also received $115,000 a month in spousal support until this January.

In November 2023, a California labor commissioner ruled Blackstock ‘unlawfully’ booked jobs for Clarkson, including inking her deal as a judge on The Voice, while employed as her manager, as only agents can secure roles for talent, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.

Blackstock also collected fees for other endorsements, like Wayfair and Norwegian Cruise Line, in the amount of $2,641,374, per the outlet.

The labor commissioner ordered Blackstock to return the commissions — which includes the $1.98 million for The Voice gig — to his ex-wife.

It was reported that Blackstock’s legal team plans to appeal the decision.

In October Clarkson opened up about her decision to leave The Voice as one of its four celebrity coaches after nine seasons.

Balancing hosting duties for The Kelly Clarkson Show along with The Voice over the past several years began to feel unmanageable, she told USA Today.
