Kelly Clarkson wells up with tears as she speaks with Henry Winkler about how her daughter River Rose, eight, is being bullied at school over dyslexia

Kelly Clarkson on Tuesday welled up with tears on her show as she discussed how her daughter is being bullied at school amid a battle with dyslexia.

The 40-year-old entertainer, who shares daughter River Rose, eight, and son Remington Alexander, seven, with ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, 46, opened up on The Kelly Clarkson Show as she spoke with Henry Winkler, 77, who has been open about his own battle with dyslexia.

‘I was driving my daughter to school yesterday, and she’s dyslexic,’ the Fort Worth, Texas-born star told the iconic Happy Days leading man, delving into how she finds him to be an inspirational figure.

She said, ‘You have told me that you’re dyslexic as well – I find that amazing, to tell my daughter that you’ve written, like, 40 books and you’re dyslexic.’

In the appearance, Clarkson said that daughter River had been ‘getting bullied’ at school for ‘not being able to read’ at a similar pace to her classmates amid her battle with the learning disability.

Clarkson noted a number of other famous people who have been open about their battles with dyslexia, a group that includes Anthony Mackie and Zachary Levi. Said the My Life Would Suck Without You artist: ‘It really empowered her that y’all are so open about it.’

Winkler cited statistics that indicated one out of five children deal with dyslexia.

Said the Barry star: ‘She’s part of the tribe’ before saying into the camera, ‘River! How you learn has nothing to do with how brilliant you are.’

Clarkson got teary as she said that she ‘didn’t know how common’ dyslexia was in children, adding, ‘My makeup artist is going to kill me.’

Clarkson filed for divorce from Blackstock in June of 2020 after a seven-year marriage, with the split being finalized a year ago.

Clarkson last summer appeared on the Today show, where she spoke about how she and ex Blackstock took their kids on a summer vacation in the wake of their split.

The A Moment Like This songstress said, ‘It’s obviously been a rough couple years so it was really important to me to, like, shut down for a minute. The kids were with me and with their dad.

‘It was nice because they usually have to travel a lot because of our separation so we were both in Montana so, it was the first time I think my kids felt more centered as well.’
