Kelly Monaco, 48, says getting fired from General Hospital after 20 years on the soap opera ‘doesn’t make any sense to me’

Kelly Monaco is still understandably salty about her firing from General Hospital after more than 20 years in the role of Samantha ‘Sam’ McCall.

The Dancing With the Stars champion shared a photo of herself with the show’s Davis family, played by Kate Mansi, Nancy Lee Grahn and Kristen Vaganos.

Kelly, 48, captioned the photo, ‘Last scene with the Davis girls. Still doesn’t make any sense to me.’

Nancy, who plays her character’s mother, shared a sweet comment.

‘In the middle of every difficulty lies opportunity. Albert Einstein. I love you. All will be well. There are some things a TV mother just knows.’

Travis Barker’s ex-wife Shanna Moakler also commented, writing, ‘Keep your chin up…. god has bigger plans for you… better plans. Love you.’

In August, Soap Opera Network reported that Monaco was ‘blindsided’ after she learned her longtime character will be ‘killed off’ the show sometime this fall.

Previously, Monaco portrayed Livvie Locke on spinoff series Port Charles.

She played the role for three years before the show was canceled and she was asked to join its long-running counterpart: General Hospital.

Monaco first joined the series in October 2003, and since then, she has appeared in more than 2,200 episodes of General Hospital.

Her role on the show was terminated by the network and that she will be making her last appearance in Port Charles before the end of the year.

Last week, Kelly offered a bit more insight into her feelings about her exit from the soap opera when she replied to a comment on social media.

A commenter on a soap opera fan page wrote, ‘What do you got concrete in your head she wasn’t fired she didn’t take the pay cut so she had to leave.’

‘No primary role.. do your homework. When Billy Miller was fired, Sam’s storyline stopped. Stripping Sam of every characteristic she had. Something I worked for decades to build,’ her now deleted comment began.

‘Slowly dismantling her into a character that I did not recognize, let alone the audience. Call it what you will… retaliation at it [sic] finest. I will give a proper statement. The truth will set you free,’ she wrote per People
