Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest spoof Tom Cruise’s blockbuster movie Top Gun: Maverick

Kelly Ripa, 52, and Ryan Seacrest, 48, spoofed Top Gun: Maverick for their morning show Live With Kelly And Ryan.

The show is put together extremely quickly with the night before’s clips from the red carpet cut together with live interviews in front of a studio audience all having to be ready for the 6am broadcast.

The after-Oscars show also includes a pre-filmed bit that put Kelly and Ryan in the midst of the action of Best Picture nominee Top Gun: Maverick.

The video opens with a voiceover saying, ‘Their exploits are legendary. Their call signs are Morning Glory and Haulin’ Oats. Their mission: Live’s After Oscars show.’

The video cuts to a shot of Ripa and Seacrest – who will soon be replaced by Ripa’s husband Mark Consuelos –  in flight uniforms holding fighter pilot helmets with their call signs on them.

The morning show co-hosts will be in Los Angeles for the 95th annual Academy Awards on Sunday.

And then on Monday they will broadcast live from the Dolby Theatre’s stage, mere hours after the Oscars end.

‘They move out and we move in,’ Ripa told People. ‘We’re like the changing of the guards.’

In the hilarious video, a fake Tom Cruise puts the hosts through tough training ranging from calisthenics to underwater training to flight training.

This prompts Ripa to say, ‘Tom realizes we’re just interviewing celebrities, right?’

The video cuts to Cruise saying, ‘I know how to do it and lead the way.’

Ripa then asked, ‘Did Tom make Jimmy Kimmel do this?’

Seacrest echoed her: ‘Did Tom make Jimmy Kimmel do this?’

‘Ryan is just so, so good at these skits,’ Ripa told People. ‘It just tickles me every time I watch him because he really commits and gives his all!’

She continued, ‘I’ve said it a thousand times: If Ryan wanted to take a 900 percent pay cut, he could have been one of the best actors.

‘He could have been receiving an Academy Award! But he chose the money and not the fame. And that’s… commendable!”

The chaotic nature of the morning after Oscars show continues with guests.

‘We often have no idea who will be the live guests until maybe the next morning,’ Seacrest told the outlet. ‘Most of them are coming straight from the afterparty!’

‘Oh, they’ve clearly been up all night,’ Ripa said. ‘Nobody’s slept. We’re the only two that have been rested — and barely, at that, because we’ll be there in our production office after the Oscars, editing pieces with the team.’

Ripa added, ‘Usually, I’m soaking my feet in ice from the heels, watching that countdown clock in the corner going, “Five hours ’til air … four hours … three hours…”‘

And before she goes to sleep she has one last thought. ‘If I sleep sitting up, I won’t have to have my hair and makeup redone, so I could get an extra hour!’
