Kelly Ripa transformed into Tammy Faye Bakker in a new clip for her upcoming post-Oscars broadcast with Ryan Seacrest.

She was spoofing Jessica Chastain’s Oscar-nominated performance as the late televangelist in the biopic The Eyes Of Tammy Faye.

In the new clip Kelly, 51, is unrecognizable as Tammy Faye, lampooning Jessica’s big scene where she declares that her exaggerated stage look is ‘who I am.’

Kelly can also be seen singing onstage as Tammy Faye, who used to perform songs as part of her ministry while her husband Jim Bakker did the preaching.

For her TV parody, Kelly was singing one of Tammy Faye’s actual stage numbers, Jesus Keeps Takin’ Me Higher And Higher.

When a makeup lady asks if she wants ‘a little remover’ for her eyelashes, Kelly as Tammy Faye replies: ‘Oh, no, that’s it. I mean, they’re permanently lined and my eyes are permanently line and my eyebrows are permanently on so there’s not a whole lot you can do. This is who I am!’

The sequence is a send-up of a scene in The Eyes Of Tammy Faye where the 1980s superstar televangelist, as played by Jessica, explains her look.

‘Oh, no,’ says Tammy Faye in response to the question about remover, ‘that’s it. That’d be all. They’re permanently lined. Yeah, my eyes a permanently lined and my eyebrows are permanently on so there’s not a whole lot you can do.’

‘My goodness, I didn’t know,’ says the woman behind the camera. ‘Have you never done pictures without those eyelashes?’

‘No, nope,’ replies Tammy Faye, shaking her head, ‘and I never will because that’s my trademark and, you know, if I take that away then it’s not me. And no one’s gonna wanna look at me without my trademark so I hold onto that.’

The other woman floats the idea of trying to ‘soften ’em up,’ but Tammy Faye says: ‘No, no, you can do anything you want but my eyelashes stay right where they are.’

During an interview with Ruby Wax decades ago, Tammy Faye revealed that she was so dedicated to her false eyelashes she did not even remove them to go to bed.

‘I don’t take ’em off unless one comes off and then I just replace it,’ said Tammy Faye, getting a laugh out of her interviewer.

In a previously released sneak peek clip for her post-Oscars broadcast, Kelly also parodied Lady Gaga’s performance in House Of Gucci.
