  • Bradley Bell, 25, was charged by Queensland Police on Tuesday afternoon
  • Police will allege he assisted Johnston preparations for killing Ms Wilkinson
  • The mother-of-three was found dead at home, having suffered serious burns

A second man has been charged with the murder of Gold Coast mother Kelly Wilkinson accused of driving her U.S Marine ex-husband to her home.

Bradley Bell, a 25-year-old workmate of accused killer Brian Earle Johnston, was arrested at a business in Coomera on Tuesday morning and charged with murder.

Prosecutors will allege that Bell knew Johnston was planning to kill the mother-of-three and helped him prepare for it.

He is accused of transporting Johnston to Ms Wilkinson’s home on April 20 and stopping to fill up a jerry can of petrol with him.

Later that day, the mother-of-three was found dead at home, having suffered serious burns.

Mother-of-three Kelly Wilkinson was found dead at her Arundel, Gold Coast home in April

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Ahern said prosecutrors will allege Bell helped Ms Wilkinson’s ex-husband allegedly commit the murder.

‘We will allege he knew what the end result was going to be.’

Mr Bell was interviewed by police shortly after Ms Wilkinson’s death and provided a version of events to detectives.

But police have since ‘discounted’ his story, Mr Ahern said.

Detectives don’t believe Bell knew Ms Wilkinson or her family, who have been briefed about the latest charge.

Johnston was charged with Ms Wilkinson’s horrific murder earlier this year. He is bail refused with his case still before the courts.

Bell has been refused bail to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow.
