Kent armed police make arrest of three suspects

This is the dramatic moment armed police force a group of men to the floor at gunpoint following a gang fight at a car wash.

The incident unfolded on a busy street in Margate, Kent, yesterday afternoon,  after a car was stopped and three men were held at gunpoint before being arrested.

Kent Live reports that shocked pedestrians watched on in horror as the riot vans and unmarked police cars arrived on the scene and swarmed the street.

Eyewitness Deron Cutter, took these pictures of the incident unfolding just after 12.30pm. 

Mr Cutter said: ‘There is always crime happening here in Margate, but it seems to be more so in Cliftonville. It’s like walking through the streets of London here.’ 

The trio were arrested as part of an investigation by Cheshire Police involving an ‘altercation’ between a group of men at a car wash.

A Kent Police spokesman said: ‘At around 12.30pm on Monday, February 26, firearms officers from Kent Police stopped a car in Northdown Road, in Cliftonville, Margate.

‘Three men were arrested on suspicion of assault and public order offences, as part of an investigation being led by Cheshire Police and currently remain in custody.’

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: ‘At 11.37am on February 25 police were called to a car wash in Clayton-By-Pass in Congleton following an altercation between a group of men.

‘The suspects fled the scene in a car leaving the victims, who sustained minor injuries, at the scene. Police made a search of the area.

‘Further enquiries led to police in Kent stopping a vehicle and arresting three men on suspicion of assault and public order offences.’
