GOODWIN: Good afternoon, my name is Anthony Goodwin I live at XX Crispin Close I was round at my friend’s house last night, XX Crispin Close, a neighbour of mine, and we got into a bit of a dispute, I’ve been trying to ring him and I’m getting no answer, and we did have a bit of a quarrel over there you know.
Operator: OK, so you’re trying to ring him and he’s not answering?
GOODWIN: No he’s not answering no.
Operator: Is this unusual for him not to answer?
GOODWIN: It is, I usually leave a message for him and he will get back to me but he didn’t.
Operator: Ok so what is your concern, what have you called the emergency line for?
GOODWIN: I think I might of hurt him because we had a fight.
Operator: Sorry, are you calling to report the fight?
GOODWIN: No, he’s not responding so I could have hurt him you know,
Operator: Right Ok
GOODWIN: We’re both in our 60’s like you know.
Operator: What’s his name?
GOODWIN: Harry Messenger.
Operator: Do you know how old he is?
GOODWIN: Seventy something, 73, something like that.
Operator: And what’s your name?
GOODWIN: Anthony Goodwin
Operator: How did Harry seem when you left?
GOODWIN: Erm Bad
Operator: And when you mean bad what do you mean by that?
GOODWIN: Well he attacked me with a hammer, started punching with his fist then got a hammer than started using that and then apparently I used it back, and I left after that.
Operator: So Harry tried to hit you with a hammer?
GOODWIN: Yes, he hit me without the hammer first obviously he came in to possession of the hammer out of the blue, I took it off of him and hit him back, not with the intention of hitting him hard but I hit him.
Operator: So you hit Harry back with or without the hammer?
GOODWIN: With the hammer.
Operator: And whereabouts did you hit him?
GOODWIN: In the head.
Operator: Ok and when you left was he talking was he not talking?
GOODWIN: I checked to see if he was breathing but I couldn’t get no pulse so I just left, I was scared.
Operator: And so you tried to call him today and he’s not answering?
GOODWIN: I called him three times and I didn’t get any answer.
Operator: And have you knocked on his door?
GOODWIN: I haven’t gone over there no.
Operator: Ok and the fight you and Harry had what was that about?
GOODWIN: It was something silly, about an aeroplane, an aircraft, that’s all it was
Operator: And where is the hammer now?
GOODWIN: I haven’t got a clue, somewhere in his house
GOODWIN: I’ve just been over there ten minutes ago.
Operator: OK and what happened?
GOODWIN: I didn’t get an answer, I just rang the bell twice.
