University of Louisville student is investigated after posting videos of himself seasoning and then AIR FRYING live baby chicks

  • A University of Louisville student in Kentucky filmed himself frying live chicks
  • In a later post he denied that the chicks were real and claimed they were robots
  • University of Louisville confirmed it was investigating a case of ‘animal cruelty’

A student in Kentucky posted disturbing videos online in which he could be seen pouring seasoning on live chicks and putting them in an air fryer.

Other clips uploaded to Instagram showed dead chicks hanging from the ceiling.

The University of Louisville confirmed the posts were made by a student and said on Saturday afternoon that it was investigating the acts of animal cruelty.

In a subsequent post the unidentified student claimed the chicks were not real but in fact robots that he had programmed, local outlet WDRB reported.

In a recorded Instagram story the student was seen putting seasoning on a live chick inside an air fryer. ‘How to make fired chicken,’ they wrote in the caption. In another video, a bird appears to be dead inside the air fryer.

The school in Louisville tweeted over the weekend to say it was aware of an ‘off-campus incident’ involving ‘alleged actions of animal cruelty’.

‘We take reports of occurrences like this very seriously,’ read its update. ‘The university immediately relayed all relevant information to the appropriate authorities for further investigation,’ it added.

A University of Louisville student said she called police after seeing the videos.

‘It just gives you a grimy feeling, like I feel wrong for being able to see it,’ student Sarah Devers told WDRB.

She said she saw the video and did not doubt that the chicks were real. ‘Nice try trying to gaslight, I think anyone that has ever seen baby chicks before can tell that those are real living baby chicks,’ she said.

‘I would like to see him not be a student anymore, I don’t have a student like that and getting a degree at the University of Louisville is anyway correct.’

In Kentucky for animal cruelty to be considered a crime the mistreatment must be cruel or result in the animal’s injury.

Animal rights advocate Rebecca Eaves told WDRB she thought the behavior could lead to worse acts.

‘One thing that we always have to remember is there is a direct link from someone who will take innocent creatures and torture them,’ she said. ‘There is a direct link to other forms of cruelty, and it will escalate.’
