Kerri-Anne Kennerley, 64, reveals how she reacted to her 2017 Logies Hall Of Fame honour

Kerri-Anne Kennerley was inducted into the TV Week Logies Hall Of Fame in 2017.   

And ahead of Australian TV’s night of nights next Sunday, the 64-year-old showbiz veteran has revealed she initially rejected the honour.

She told The Daily Telegraph on Thursday: ‘Two or three years before that, I did get the phone call saying, “Would you be good enough to accept the TV Week Hall of Fame Logie?”‘

She added: ‘And I’ve gone, “No, eff off! I’m not dead yet”. That’s a true story.’

The Australian icon also revealed her husband John was ‘appalled’ by her reaction.

‘He said, “That’s just terrible”, and I said, “Well, I’m not dead yet” – because you look at the Hall of Famers and a lot of them are,’ Kerri-Anne added.

Kerri-Anne was the third woman in history to receive the Hall Of Fame honour, following the late Ruth Cracknell in 2001 and actress Noni Hazlehurst in 2016.  

During her heartfelt acceptance speech last year, Kerri-Anne thanked her friends, family and loyal fans for their support over the decades.

She also paid a heartwarming tribute to her wheelchair-bound husband John.

Pointing out her husband in the crowd, she said: ‘I would give away 50 years of my career just to have you standing here.’
