Proving she’s found greener pastures since her dumping, the 67-year-old appeared on the show with stage performer Ainsley Melham to discuss their new role in the stage production of Pippin.

KAK is back! Kerri-Anne Kennerley, 67, returned to Studio 10 as a guest on Monday, just two months after getting sacked from the show amid network budget cuts

‘Pippin is a wonderful show. It’s in time for school holidays. By the end of this year, I think everyone will be seriously over 2020, and it’s a fun show,’ she told hosts Sarah Harris and Tristan MacManus.

Ignoring the awkwardness of being interviewed by the very man who replaced her, Kerri-Anne remained bright and bubbly as she discussed how she’s preparing for opening night.

The blonde confirmed she’s re-hired her former personal trainer Billy Kokkinis, who previously trained her for Dancing With The Stars in 2012.

‘Billy was training me before Dancing With The Stars. I got very strong, especially in the knees, because I’ve got funny knees. But when you exercise your knees, or the quads and everything… and all of a sudden everything else starts to work,’ she explained.

Kerr-Anne, who will be playing the role of Grandma Berthe for Pippin’s six-week run, will be required to perform an array of acrobatic stunts while singing.

‘I have to slide down onto my – hopefully very, very, very strong – acrobat… and then I sing upside down,’ she said of one scene in the musical.

Kerri-Anne’s appearance comes just two months after the Logie Hall of Fame recipient was made redundant from Studio 10 in August.

Kerri-Anne fought back tears as she addressed her sacking live on air, less than 24 hours after losing her job in a cost-cutting measure.

She appeared to shake with emotion while bidding farewell to viewers.

The TV veteran acknowledged that the coronavirus pandemic had made it necessary to tighten the budget, and thanked her friends and colleagues for their support.

‘I just know I’m back on the “lazy Susan” of television. Yeah, it’s very, very tough for a lot of people,’ she began.

‘But I’ve always worked on a personal level, the Charles Darwin theory that says to survive you don’t need to be the most intelligent, you don’t have to be the strongest, but you have to be, to survive, the most adaptable,’ she added.

Kerri-Anne, who was axed from Channel 10 along with 25 other staff members, went on to say just how much she treasures the friendships she’s made along the way.

‘I’ve had a ball! And the reason why I’ve got this outfit today is because, if you’re being run out of town, get in front of the parade or get in front of the crowd and make it look like a parade!’ she said with a salute.
