Kerry Katona’s daughter and mother blast Fathers4Justice after ‘vile’ tweet

Kerry Katona’s daughter and mother have blasted Fathers4Justice after the campaigners claimed the former Atomic Kitten star had ‘blood on her hands’ after the death of ex-husband George Kay.

Former rugby league star Kay, 39, was married to Katona for three years and they  died from an apparent drug overdose on Saturday.

Social media users were left revolted after men’s rights activists Fathers4Justice tweeted: ‘Tragic news about the passing of George Kay who came to Fathers4Justice for help. He was heartbroken after @KerryKatona7 denied him access to daughter Dylan-Jorge.’

The campaigners has also posted a letter claiming Kay begged mother-of-five to see his daughter DJ, but was denied.

Katona’s mother, Sue Katona, and her daughter Molly McFadden, also criticsed the tweet, with 17-year-old calling it ‘disgusting’ and ‘extremely insensitive.’

‘Katona’s not ‘heartbroken’. She has blood on her hands. Matt O’C #RIP’

Kerry Katona’s fans have been flooding the singer’s Instagram account with their condolences after she posted a video of her daughter dancing to the song Heaven the day after the child’s father George Kay died.

Yesterday, the Atomic Kitten star shared a clip of five-year-old Dylan-Jorge moving to the emotional track by Todrick Hall who sings about being ‘here today and gone tomorrow’.

The mother-of-five’s followers inundated the post’s comment section with their sympathies – many referring to the heartbreaking lyrics.

Vanessa Broster wrote: ‘So sad for her and you. The irony what she was dancing to. Rip George.’

Kay, who had a long history of drug abuse, was pronounced dead aged 39 on arrival at hospital on Friday, but this news only emerged today.

It is unclear whether Dylan-Jorge knew of her father’s death at the time of either the recording or posting of the video.

Emotional chorus of Heaven by Todrick Hall

And if there’s a heaven

I know the angels gotta be listening

Somebody tell them

That there’s something we’ve gotta be missing

I don’t know if I’ll see my tomorrow

If I do, Lord, take my soul

And when I get in

I promise to send out a message from heaven

A source close to Katona told the publication: ‘Kerry was told this afternoon that George suffered an overdose and was taken to hospital, but was declared dead on arrival.’

‘No one yet knows what he overdosed on or whether it was intentional or an accident.

‘Kerry is heartbroken, he’s DJ’s dad and she loved him once. She can’t bear the thought of explaining to her daughter what has happened.’

MailOnline has contacted Kay and Katona’s representative’s for comment.

Katona married Kay in September 2014, months after giving birth to Dylan-Jorge however the couple divorced in 2017.

There had reportedly been a restraining order issued keeping George away from Katona at the time of his death.

Kay and Katona initially met during their teenage years at at Padgate High School in Warrington where they were childhood sweethearts.

The former couple rekindled their romance during their thirties while Katona was on her book tour for Too Much Too Young and Kay worked as her security guard.

During their three-year marriage Kay battled mental health issues and Katona later claimed that he had been violent towards her throughout their relationship.

She previously split from him in October 2015 after thirteen months together and a month later appeared in court accusing him of beating her up at their home, after allegedly arming himself with a Taser-style device and a knife.

However he was later acquitted after prosecutors revealed that they didn’t have enough evidence to secure a conviction.

A matter of months later, the pair first sparked reconciliation rumours when they were spotted out together with their daughter Dylan-Jorge.

The couple were so determined to make their relationship work and appeared on the reality show In Therapy last year to talk through their issues.

They even blissfully renewed their wedding vows in November 2016.

Speaking shortly after the reconciliation, Kerry insisted to OK! magazine that George ‘wasn’t a monster’ and they both had ‘fiery tempers’.

She explained: ‘There was never a restraining order, that was reported incorrectly.’

‘He was allowed to come and pick up DJ when he wanted. I’ve never felt threatened. I’ve been no angel in this either. I can get angry and mad, too’, she added. However, the pair officially called it quits and divorced in 2017.
