- A bizarre incident involving a duck unfolded during Fox Cricket’s BBL coverage
- Kerry O’Keefe sent the commentary team into meltdown with a string of jokes
- The commentators could not help but laugh as the bizarre moment unfolded
Kerry O’Keefe could not resist the chance to crack a few one liners after a bizarre incident involving a duck unfolded at the Adelaide Oval on New Year’s Eve.
The unusual moment came as the Scorchers hammered their way to a seven-wicket victory over the Strikers to secure their standing in second place in the Big Bash League at the end of 2024.
Fin Allen was the star man for the visitors, amassing a half-century – the highest individual score of the match – while Jhye Richardson staked his claim for a Test call-up for next week’s final clash against India, taking three wickets during the Strikers’ innings.
Mid-way through the match, commentators became distracted by a duck that had flown in and landed in the Oval.
Cameras honed in on the bird, before catching the bird poo on the pitch.
The commentators were left shocked by the moment, but in true Skull fashion, O’Keefe began to reel off the puns.

Kerry O’Keefe sent the Fox Cricket commentary team into meltdown on New Years Eve with some cracking jokes
A bizarre incident unfolded during the Strikers’ defeat by the Scorchers at the Adelaide Oval as a duck landed on the field
‘Whoopsie!’ he joked, before letting out a huge laugh.
‘I don’t even know what to say,’ another commentator added, while the other replied: ‘Excuse me would be your first word.’
But Skull continued, speaking about the bird: ‘Now wash your feet, before you meet anybody!’
‘I dare somebody to dive for a catch into that area,’ he added letting out another of his trademark laughs.
‘Damien Huff is the best curator in Australia, he’s run on with a pooper scooper,’ he said, again howling to himself.
‘Polly want a cracker?’ he added, before saying: ‘[He] didn’t pay to get in!’
The Aussie cricket legend has long made fans howl with his phenomenal one-liners, even cracking a few during this week’s Boxing Day Test.
On Tuesday, he also offered a warning to young batter Sam Konstas, who enjoyed a sensational debut this week in the Boxing Day Test.
O’Keefe began to crack jokes about the bird after it did a poo on the grass, while also daring one of the players to dive through that specific area of the pitch
O’Keefe has also pointed out how young star Sam Konstas can improve his batting, saying the 19-year-old plays too much with his hands and loses his front shoulder
The 19-year-old plundered a half-century from 42 balls, going on to record a first-innings score of 60.
But O’Keefe believes India have found a problem in the young batter’s game which the opposition can exploit in Sydney.
‘They’ve suddenly now picked up a flaw in his first Test that will go around the world,’ O’Keefe said to Fox Cricket.
‘Sam’s front shoulder, he loses it completely and just plays with his hands.
‘He’s pushing his hands at the ball away from his body. The gap is created, and [Jasprit] Bumrah went through it,’ he added, speaking on Konstas’ dismissal for just eight runs during Australia’s second innings.
‘He doesn’t need too many invitations.’
