Just over a week after she published her first book, Thicker Than Water, Kerry Washington has learned it’s already a New York Times bestseller.

The 46-year-old actress’ book – where she reveals that the man she grew up knowing as her dad was not her actual biological father – debuted on September 26,

She took to Instagram on Wednesday, sharing a video of her getting the call where she learned the news.

‘WHAAAAAAAT!?!? You guys!!!!! #ThickerThanWater is on the @nytimes Bestseller list!? !? !? Oh. My. Goodness. I am overcome with love and gratitude,’ Washington began in her caption.

‘THANK YOU. To all the readers. All the listeners. To my insanely hardworking brilliant team. And to my family and friends who have been so crazy supportive on this journey. ❤️ WOW!’ she concluded.

The video showed Washington on what appears to be a private plane, taking a call that she puts on speaker.

‘This is either really good news or really bad news,’ the actress says with a laugh, though the unidentified caller says, ‘We wouldn’t call you with bad news.’

‘Great news. You’re a New York Times bestseller!’ the caller says, as Kerry and others on the plane all cheer.

The caller adds, ‘You’re number six on the non-fiction list, then you’re number seven on the combined hardcover and you’re number six on the audio list,’ with Washington replying,’ Wow.’

‘So happy for you, Kerry. You did it!’ the caller says, though the actress and author immediately replied, ‘We did it! We did it! And the readers did it, and the listeners did it.’

Washington adds, ‘Oh my God, can I go take a nap?’ with a lap, as the caller says she can, ‘take a week off.’

‘Oh my gosh I’m so excited,’ Washington adds as the caller adds, ‘I’m so proud of you,’ and Washington responds, ‘I love you guys. Thank you so much,’ as the video comes to an end.

The video comes less than a week after she was promoting the book on Watch What Happens Live and she revealed the most famous person to slide into her DMs.

‘Um, Shaq, Shaquille O’Neal,’ Washington said, which elicited a surprised, ‘Wow!’ from Cohen and applause from the Bravo Clubhouse crowd.

‘He’s a big “Scandal” fan. He’s always like, I’ll do anything for command,’ Washington said on the Bravo talk show.

Washington was also asked who was the last celebrity to text her, and she revealed it was Jennifer Aniston.

‘Jennifer Aniston, yeah, she sent me proof that she had just bought the book. It was really cute,’ Washington admitted.
