KFC worker, 15, ‘has a knife held to her throat by armed robber’ before hero bystander knocks him out with a golf club

  • It’s alleged the man used a knife to demand from the girl behind the counter
  • A customer saw the scene and grabbed a gold club from his car and hit the man
  • The robber fell unconscious, while more bystanders rushed to subdue him
  • Police arrived and arrested the alleged-thief, who faces court on Friday  

A teenage KFC worker allegedly had a knife held to her throat by an armed robber, before a hero bystander knocked the accused out with a golf club.  

The would-be thief entered the Marsden KFC, south of Brisbane, on Thursday night and demanded cash from the 15-year-old girl working behind the counter, police allege.  

‘He was like ”open the til give me the f****ng money” in this crazy scary loud voice,’ a terrified onlooker said. 

Another bystander – who’s now being hailed a hero – saw the incident unfold before getting a golf club from the boot of his car and striking the alleged offender repeatedly until he lost consciousness.

‘Customers ended up taking the guy down… they knocked him out he went flat down to the ground,’ a woman said, adding that her husband bundled their frightened kids into their car. 

‘That’s when the police ran in just as the customers took him down.’

The accused man, a 40-year-old from Park Ridge, was held at the scene by bystanders until police arrived.

He has been charged with entering a premises with intent to commit an indictable offence and attempted armed robbery.

He will appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Friday.
