England defender Kieran Trippier reportedly wants to leave Newcastle before the summer transfer window shuts next week.

Trippier, 33, joined Newcastle in January 2022 and has played a major role in their resurgence following their Saudi takeover.

But he is now ready to move on, and Everton are showing interest in signing the experienced full back, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein

Trippier has been a regular starter under Eddie Howe over the last two-and-half years but was an unused substitute in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Southampton.

Mail Sport also exclusively revealed earlier this week that Bruno Guimaraes is Newcastle’s new captain, despite Trippier wearing the armband for the majority of his time at the club.

Jamaal Lascelles is now the ‘club captain’ with Trippier remaining as vice-captain, suggesting that his game time could be more limited this season if he opts to stay at St James’ Park following the emergence of Tino Livramento.

Everton are looking to strengthen their full back options, and will be without Ashley Young for this weekend’s trip to Tottenham after he was sent off in their 3-0 defeat by Brighton on Saturday.

Trippier has been identified as a potential target, and the Toffees could now step up their interest in the defender who has just under two years remaining on his Newcastle contract.

Trippier was also the subject of interest from Bayern Munich in January, but he ended up staying on Tyneside.

A loss of form and injuries saw Trippier struggle in the second half of last season, but he still secured his place in England’s Euro 2024 squad.

He went on to start six of England’s seven games on their run to the final as he filled in for the injured Luke Shaw on the left-hand side of the defence.

But he now appears to have slipped down the pecking order at club level and is seeking a fresh challenge elsewhere.
