Killer nurse Lucy Letby went on a hen weekend with her friends just hours before she murdered her first tiny victim.

Baby killer Letby, 33, was found guilty of murdering seven babies and attempting to kill another six between 2015 and 2016 while she was working on a neonatal ward at Countess of Chester Hospital.

The twisted nurse injected the helpless babies with air, poisoned two with insulin or force-fed the little victims milk.

Just a day before her first kill, Letby was in York on a hen party for her friend – and nursery nurse on the unit – Jennifer Jones-Key, from June 5 to June 7, 2015.

A number of other Countess of Chester nurses were on the trip. They travelled by train and visited several bars, but ended up drinking cocktails at Vodka Revolution.

Letby was enjoying the trip to York with 16 friends, the Sun reports.

The women wore badges and the bridge-to-be, who also worked at Countess of Chester Hospital, had a white sash wrapped around her.

They took pictures at the train station and Lendal Bridge while carrying pink balloons for the occasion.

Back in Chester, Letby murdered Baby A – a boy born 12 weeks early – on June 8 by injecting him with air.

Baby A had a twin sister, Baby B, who the vicious nurse also attempted to kill between June 8 and June 11.

Luckily, the little girl, whose breathing equipment had been sabotaged, was intubated and made a quick recovery.

After Baby A’s death and his sister’s close call, Letby went on Facebook to search for their parents.

Letby said after about the death of Baby A, which happened during a shift she was covering, that it was ‘awful’, adding: ‘I was not even supposed to be working that night.’

She sent disturbing text messages after killing Baby A and the other six babies as well as after the attempted murders of six further babies she was found guilty for.

She also kept a ‘treasure trove’ where she stored cards, handover sheets and resuscitation notes of her victims as mementos.

When her guilty verdicts were read out in court, the serial killer cried in the dock while her mother said: ‘You cannot be serious. This cannot be right.’

During the trial, the jury also heard how Letby went out ‘drinking fizz and going to the races’ in the aftermath of murdering the seven babies.

She was asked whether she was having a good time in 2015 and 2016 – during which the babies died – and she replied: ‘Yes, there were times in those years that I had a good time. Yes.’

The court was shown photographs of the nurse on holiday in Torquay with her father, David, having drinks with university friends and on a day out to Port Sunlight with both her parents.
