The royal family have shared birthday wishes for Sophie, The Countess of Wessex, as she celebrates turning 58 today.

The celebrations come after the mother-of-two visited Connaught Junior School in Bagshot and Heatherwood Hospital in Ascot yesterday and was gifted a birthday cake, flowers and a card. 

King Charles and Camilla wrote a post on their official Twitter account which read: ‘Wishing the Countess of Wessex a very happy Birthday today. 

‘Thank you Connaught School for the lovely cake during HRH’s visit yesterday!’

Comments flooded in for the wife of Prince Edward, the late Queen’s youngest son, as royal fans expressed their love for the Countess and thanked her for supporting the Queen.

‘A very happy birthday to our lovely Sophie, Countess of Wessex. Such a great beauty! We know how much our late Queen loved you. Thank you for helping to look after her,’ one wrote.

Another said: ‘Happy Birthday to Sophie!! She is such a great and amazing woman!’

Organisations from around the world of which the Countess is patron took to social media to share their good wishes.

The OSCAR Foundation, which uses football to help provide education to young people in deprived parts of India, posted a video featuring young children singing ‘Happy Birthday’ as a cake was cut which said ‘Happy Birthday Sophie Ma’am’.

The health charity Wellbeing of Women shared a post writing: ‘Happy birthday to our Royal Patron HRH the Countess of Wessex!

‘The Countess has been an incredible supporter since she joined us as Royal Patron in 2021 and we look forward to continuing our work together throughout 2023.’

DMWS, a charity providing medical welfare to those who serve the nation, wrote: ‘Wishing our Royal Patron, HRH The Countess of Wessex a very Happy Birthday today. Thank you for your ongoing support.’

The Countess was given an iced cake yesterday in celebration of her birthday when she visited Connaught Junior School in Bagshot.

Opening its new STEAM lab, she joined in with science, IT and Home Economics lessons before then planting a tree to mark The Queen’s Green Canopy initiative.

Sophie paired a striped deep blue Gabriela Hearst wool-blend dress with matching black and white pearl earrings and a long silver chain necklace, featuring a larger, statement pearl.

As she got stuck into some baking, the royal wore a personalised white apron featuring her initial and surrounded by flowers.

The Countess was also handed a card after she met with staff and patients to celebrate the refurbishment of Heatherwood Hospital in Ascot. 

The characteristically chic countess was also handed a bouquet of white flowers, and looked glowing as she left the unit.
