Getting coronation ready! King Charles and Queen Camilla refresh their social media accounts with new portrait as invitations are sent out
King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla have updated their social media accounts ahead of the Coronation.
The profile photos for the Royal Family’s social media pages were refreshed with the new official portrait of the monarch, 74, and his wife, 75, which was released earlier this week along with the official coronation invitation.
The portrait of Their Majesties was taken last month in the Blue Drawing Room at Buckingham Palace by Hugo Burnand, who will also take their official Coronation photographs.
Dressed in blue to coordinate with her husband, Camilla is wearing a favourite Fiona Clare dress with a diamond clasp pearl necklace and pearl earrings.
The image can now be found on the Royal Family’s Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube accounts ahead of the coronation on May 6 in Westminster Abbey.

Updates of the Royal Family’s social media profiles have happened before, with the pages typically being changed to show more sombre images for Remembrance Day each November, for around a week, for instance.
Meanwhile, in September, the Royal Family’s social media accounts marked the end of the mourning period and a new era following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Accounts for the Royal Family and the Prince and Princess of Wales, which had displayed the royal crest as their profile pictures following the late monarch’s passing, were changed to show pictures of King Charles with Queen Consort Camilla, and Kate and William.
Following Her late Majesty’s death on 8 September 2022, the nation and the Royal Family entered a period of mourning until her state funeral on Monday 19 September.
While life went back to normal for most people following the funeral, which was attended by around 2,000 people at Westminster Abbey, the Royal Family maintained its period of mourning for a further seven days after the late monarch was laid to rest at King George VI Memorial Chapel in Windsor.
The Royal Family’s Instagram account announced when the official period of mourning came to an end, and signalled a change in the content it will now produce.

Following the Queen’s death and to mark the period of mourning, the Royal Family’s Instagram account, as well as the accounts of other senior royals, changed its profile picture to the royal crest
Posting a photo of the late monarch shortly after she ascended the throne at 25 years old, the account said: ‘The period of Royal Mourning following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth has now ended.
‘The Royal Family account will continue to reflect the work of The King, The Queen Consort and other members of The Royal Family, as well as remembering the life and work of Queen Elizabeth.’
Meanwhile the Instagram account for the Prince and Princess of Wales changed its profile picture back to a photo of Kate and William on a trip to Ireland.
The pair were pictured laughing with their arms around each other while standing on a beautiful clifftop with a view of the sea in the background.
