A young boy spent 40 minutes trapped between a car and tree in Sydney’s east after a horror crash.

Emergency services rushed to the intersection of Gardeners Road and Bunnerong Road in Kingsford following reports a car mounted the curb and hit a boy, aged 12, at about 3.40pm.

He was freed from between a tree and the vehicle 40 minutes later and rushed to Sydney Children’s Hospital in a serious condition.

‘Officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command have secured a crime scene which will be examined by specialist police,’ New South Wales Police said in a statement.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area due to significant traffic delays.
