Minnesota Viking quarterback Kirk Cousins jokingly pitched an interesting idea to the New York Jets’ Aaron Rodgers after both tearing the Achilles tendons this season.

Rodgers memorably suffered the injury within his first quarter as a Jet in September. On the other hand, Cousins tore his Achilles on October 29 against the Green Bay Packers. Cousins is scheduled to undergo surgery this week while his counterpart in New York is expected to be medically cleared for a near-miraculous return.

Cousins told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that he reached out to Rodgers to get his insights on the injury and recovery process. The two veteran quarterbacks have since spoken loosely on the subject.

‘I joked with Aaron. I texted him the other day. I said, ‘We need to start an Achilles Anonymous group,” Cousins said. ‘Maybe at Super Bowl week, we could have a little summit.

‘We can all meet in Vegas and invite all the who’s who of torn Achilles and see if we can all get in a room and swap stories and experiences and strategies.’

Cousins appeared in eight games for the Vikings this season before getting injured. He threw a total of 2,331 yards, 15 touchdowns and five interceptions with Minnesota winning four of eight games when he facilitated the offense.

Despite leaving Green Bay with an injury, Cousins had a decent showing against the Packers. He completed 23 of 31 attempts for 274 yard and two touchdowns without getting intercepted.

Meanwhile, the Jets have been on a rollercoaster of a season after losing Rodgers on opening night against the Buffalo Bills.

The Jets are currently 5-9 in what was supposed to be a breakthrough season for the struggling franchise.

The Vikings, without Cousins, are still in contention with a 7-7 record and three games remaining.
