Kirsty Wark does it again with a revealing little black dress slashed to thigh during an edition of Newsnight

She’s been in trouble in the past for wearing revealing outfits while presenting the news, but that doesn’t seem to have put Kirsty Wark off pushing the boundaries of what she can wear on television.

The newscaster, who turns 55 tomorrow, wore a daring dress during last night’s edition of Newsnight that would have raised a few eyebrows amongst BBC viewers.

She wore the black number throughout the programme, however it only became evident just how revealing it was when she sat down on the sofas to interview a pair of internet technology experts.

Slashed almost all the way up to her waist, the dress showed off a little more of the presenter’s legs than she might have anticipated.

Fortunately, she had tights underneath the racy number, but it was still very close to her rear and possibly a little unsuitable for a serious news programme.

It’s not the first time Miss Wark has worn such an outfit for a TV appearance.

In 2008 she came under fire from viewers after wearing a skirt with a hemline several inches above her knee.

Ms Wark’s revealing attire was attacked by one viewer as ‘much too short for a lady of her age’.

In an internet post on the BBC’s Newsnight duty log, the upset viewer continued, ‘There is a much younger woman beside her who is wearing something much more modest.

‘Could someone not have told Ms Wark that it would not be advisable presenting this show naked from the waist down?’
