An Aussie woman gave a marketplace table a major makeover using $30 Kmart tiles and $10 coloured grout

‘I bought this table on marketplace, it’s from Freedom. It had some marks on the top and I used the Kmart decking tiles to create my new coffee table. So happy with how it turned out. Thank you Kmart.’ she said.

The woman put tape around the side of the table to keep it clean. She then glued the tiles to the table using Selleys $11 Hold Up glue.

After applying Dunlops $10 flexible coloured grout using her hands, she smoothed it out as much as possible.

She plans to seal the tile and grout using the $22 Betta TileCare aerosol tile and grout sealer.

She performed the redecoration with the help of just one Instagram reel. However she admitted this caused her to underestimate how much grout she would need, and she had to buy two more bags.

‘The grouting was definitely more work than I had anticipated but it turned out okay,’ she said.

‘I just watched an Instagram reel as my guide. I didn’t have enough grout to start so then I made a mad dash to Bunnings for more, then I took a while to sponge the grout of the actual tiles. I went over each one so many times to get them really smooth and clean. So not really hard, just a slower process than I anticipated and I’m super impatient.’

The tiles became different colours as they darkened from the grout.
