Kmart’s $30 ‘Short Sleeved Tiered Midi-Dress’ is an exact dupe of Sir The Label’s $480 ‘Indre’ dress

The $30 frock that looks VERY similar to a $480 designer piece: Fashionistas rush to buy a ‘beautiful’ summer dress from Kmart

  • Kmart is selling a $30 dress that looks almost identical to a $480 designer frock
  • It’s remarkably similar to the ‘Indre’ midi-dress from Sir The Label
  • Both dresses have short puff sleeves, high necklines and tiered A-line skirts
  • Sir’s is stitched from pure silk while Kmart’s version is made from cotton
  • But at $450 cheaper, it’s hard to pass up the bargain imitation

Kmart is selling a $30 dress that looks almost identical to a designer frock 16 times the price.

The Australian discount store’s ‘Short Sleeved Tiered Midi-Dress’ is a near-perfect dupe of the $480 ‘Indre’ midi-dress from Sir The Label, an upscale fashion brand headquartered in Sydney.

Both dresses have short puff sleeves, high necklines and tiered A-line skirts which are fitted at the waist and gradually widen down to the hem.

Stitched from pure silk, Sir The Label’s design is undeniably higher quality than Kmart’s cotton number – but at $450 cheaper, it’s hard to pass up the bargain version.

While they look like carbon copies from the front, differences emerge at the back with Sir The Label’s open from the neck down to the waist while Kmart’s is fully covered in fabric.

Fashion-conscious women have been rushing to buy the Kmart imitation since a stylist named Naomi shared photos in it on her popular Instagram account, ‘Kmart Finder’.

Perth blogger Louisa Sabrina called the dress an ‘amazing’ fit while Sydney influencer Angel Perez branded it ‘extra gorgeous’.

Other gushing responses included ‘love it’, ‘beautiful’, ‘so nice’ and ‘looks super on you’.

Kmart has been churning out dozens of budget-friendly pieces inspired by high-end accessories in recent months, including a $6 crossbody bag that’s strikingly similar to the iconic ‘Nile’ bag from French fashion house Chloé.

Handcrafted in Italy from suede and premium leather, the ‘Nile’ costs an eye-watering $2,220 – 370 times more expensive.

Both bags have a gold ‘bracelet’ that can be looped over the wrist or used as a handle and a detachable shoulder strap for hands-free carrying, along with similar fold-over flaps that clip closed at the front.

The only notable difference is that Chloé’s couture design is marked with intricate stitching and a stamp of the brand’s eponymous logo, while Kmart’s is bare and without detail.

Elsewhere, shoppers have been stripping the shelves of a $20 wicker tote that looks exactly like the best-selling ‘Basket Bag’ from Spanish heritage label Loewe, which is handwoven from palm and calf leather and costs $855 for the equivalent size.

Both bags have tan handles and a large patch emblazoned across the front, though Loewe’s design is stamped with the brand’s logo while Kmart’s is bare.

Demand for the budget-friendly imitation has soared since Sydney fashion blogger Dani slung it over her shoulder in an Instagram photo uploaded on Wednesday.

‘The $20 tote you didn’t know you needed from Kmart Australia,’ the influencer, who posts as ‘Luxe and Lemonade’, wrote in the caption.

Can you believe it's Kmart? This $20 tote has just hit the shelves at the Australian discount store, and fashionistas are raving about its similarity to a designer style 43 times the price

Followers were quick to note the striking similarity to Loewe’s luxury accessory, which comes in three sizes – small, medium and large – and is described as ‘the perfect summer staple’ in a product overview online.

‘I need to get my hands on this,’ Gold Coast stylist Amanda Shannon replied.

‘Love this, a gorgeous Loewe dupe! Might just tempt me back to Kmart,’ another woman said.

‘Must. Have,’ added a third, to which Dani responded: ‘It’s giving me serious J Crew [a US designer label] and Loewe vibes!’
