The shocking criminal history of the man who stabbed a reality TV star has been laid bare in court after he was found guilty.

Paddy Colliar, who appeared on The Bachelorette, F-Boy Island and Bachelor in Paradise, was knifed in the back while working as a topless waiter at a 60th birthday party in Adelaide in 2021.

On Monday, a District Court jury took just two-and-a half hours to find Abdul Kadws Mohammed Amin, 26, guilty of aggravated causing harm with intent after a week long trial.

After the verdict was handed down, the court heard that Amin had previously been convicted of unlawful sexual intercourse with a person aged under-17 prior to the stabbing, the Advertiser reported.

‘He received a suspended sentence bond for 12 months – that expired approximately a week before this offending,’ prosecutor Matt DeLorme said.

Emergency services were called to a pole dancing studio in Para Hills West in August 2021, where Mr Colliar was found in a ‘fountain of blood’.

The court previously heard the TV star had tried to break up a fight between Amin and a woman.

‘Shortly before 1.30am, Mr Colliar was having a conversation with a female at that party,’ Mr DeLorme said.

‘While he was talking to her, the accused, on the prosecution case, charged out of a door across the room – he was angry. A confrontation … followed between the accused and (the woman).’

Mr DeLorme said Amin ‘grabbed (the woman) by the throat and began thrashing her from side to side’.

Mr Colliar told the court he ‘intervened’ after seeing Amin shaking the woman ‘like a ragdoll’ and that Amin then turned on him.

He did not realise he’d been stabbed until a girl at the party pointed out that there was blood ‘pouring’ out of him.

Amin maintained throughout the trial that he was the victim and that his flick knife was only used to cut the birthday cake at the party.

Amin shook his head as the jury handed down its guilty verdict.

He will return to court next month ahead of sentencing.

Mr Colliar was in court on Monday to hear his attacker’s fate.

‘I’m definitely relieved,’ Mr Colliar told reporters outside court.

‘It’s been a long time coming.

‘I’m just overwhelmed, a bit lost for words at the minute. But justice has been served today and I feel good.

‘I think there’s way too many stabbings out there these days and there’s not enough consequences and people are getting away with it.

Mr Collier plans to deliver a victim impact statement at Amin’s sentencing.
