A koala has been captured in a heartwarming video trying to save her baby after the joey became entangled in a barbed wire fence on the Sunshine Coast.
The joey appears to be snagged on the back of its head and can be heard whimpering loudly for its mother, who drops down from a nearby gum tree.
The joey immediately reaches out for its mother, touching her face repeatedly.

The koala walks around the fence post and places her hand on the joey’s head before the pair grab each other’s arms.
The mum appears to try and pull the joey out from under the fence.
In a second video, taken by Sue Moxon, shows the joey jumping into its mother’s arms after wiggling itself free.
The baby nuzzles into the koala’s chest she begins to munch on eucalyptus leaves.
Ms Moxon uploaded the videos to YouTube in early August.
Together, they have garnered more than 3,000 views.
