Korunye crash: Adelaide woman Chloe Emma Glasson killed in horror collision with school bus remembered as a ‘beautiful angel’

The heartbroken housemate of a young woman who was killed in a horror collision between a car and a school bus has been remembered as a ‘beautiful angel’ and ‘treasured soul’ who had plans to travel the world.

Chloe Emma Glasson was a passenger in a Ford sedan that collided with a Fuso bus on the intersection of Mallala Road and Navvy Hill Road in Korunye, in Adelaide’s north, on Friday morning.

The ‘outgoing’ and ‘hard working’ 23-year-old couldn’t be revived at the scene.

Ms Glasson’s tragic death sparked an outpouring of tributes led by housemate Jai Matter-Hedges.

He first met Ms Glasson while they worked together at Coles in 2021 and moved in with a few other friends shortly afterwards.

The group spent most of 2022 and 2023 together as Mr Matter-Hedges attributed his newfound positivity on his late friend.

‘My first impression was that Chloe was a very outgoing, hard working girl with a bright and positive attitude day in and day out. And she had a joyful laugh,’  Mr Matter-Hedges told the Adelaide Advertiser on Sunday.

‘She told me once, “Happiness can be found everywhere, you just have put yourself out there and find it.”

‘She is one of the most treasured souls I’ve [met] in my life. I won’t ever forget her.’

He recalled Ms Glasson as someone who went out of her way to ensure everyone was looked after and often footed the bill to put food on the table for cash-strapped housemates.

Mr Matter-Hedges added she ‘made the best potato bake ever’.

Ms Glasson was an adventurous spirit and had hoped to travel the world.

Another friend, Meegan Kelly, shared a tribute to Ms Glasson online, describing her as the ‘most beautiful, kind-hearted person I’ve ever met’.

‘I’m devastated to hear that you’re now a beautiful angel in the sky,’ she said.

‘I will remember our car-ride home chats, talking about how long our nails had grown out and our random banter about life.

‘To my noodle-loving friend, until we meet again, rest easy.’

Other loved ones said they ‘still can’t believe’ Ms Glasson died and told her to ‘fly high, fly free.’

Many friends have left floral tributes  at the crash scene.

The driver of the sedan, a 22-year-old Freeling man and a second passenger, a 19-year-old Davoren Park woman, were airlifted to Adelaide Hospital for treatment.

The 19-year-old was treated for serious injuries.

The bus was hit by the sedan on the side and both vehicles subsequently rolled.

It’s understood the 24-seater was on its normal school run and had been due to pick up students 10 minutes after the accident.

Its driver and sole occupant, a 36-year-old Pooraka man, was taken to Lyell McEwin Hospital with minor injuries.

The bus driver’s pregnant partner rushed to the scene as soon as she heard the news.

‘He’s okay, I think he’s in shock, obviously he’s gone to hospital,’ Kanga Coachlines spokesman Julian Roeger told 7News.

‘She’s there to support him, as we are too, so we’ll support him, we’ll support her and the family.’
