Kris Dunn suffers horrific injury as slam dunk goes wrong

  • Kris Dunn misjudged a slam dunk, lost control and fell head-first to the floor
  • Dunn fell flat on his face and left his mark behind on the court afterwards
  • Incident occurred during Chicago Bulls’ defeat by Golden State Warriors

Kris Dunn has slam dunked hundreds of time throughout his life, but it’s safe to say none have gone as badly as one attempt on Wednesday night.

It is one of the most natural aspects of a basketball player’s game that it barely needs to be planned out or thought through.

As the Chicago Bulls player leapt into the air, hung on top of the hoop and dropped the ball through the net, he probably didn’t think twice about hanging off the rim.

But this time he misjudged, and instead of falling normally to the ground he lost control and was immediately sent spiralling back to earth.

Before he knew it he was head over heels and his face was smacking straight into the hard court beneath him.

Though he avoided serious injury, he managed to leave his mark. A Twitter user spotted a teeth mark that had been left on the court from the impact of his fall.

Dunn’s mood won’t have been improved by the final score, as Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry led Golden State Warriors to a 119-112 win over the Bulls.

It was their franchise record-tying 14th straight road win, the third longest streak in a season in NBA history.

Next up for the NBA-leading Warriors is a trip to Houston for a showdown with the Rockets on Saturday night.
