Kristen Bell reveals the dirty joke she snuck into Frozen that every parent missed

Kristen Bell revealed she managed to sneak a cheeky joke into one of the songs from Disney’s Frozen.

The actress, who voices Princess Anna in the 2013 film and its 2019 sequel, shared that a double entendre slipped past many viewers, including most parents, in the ditty For the First Time In Forever.

Bell revisited her character’s scene and pointed out the lyric, ‘For years I’ve roamed these empty halls / Why have a ballroom with no balls?’ in a TikTok interview with Vanity Fair posted on Wednesday.

With a knowing smile, she asked, ‘How did we get that joke in there? Come on!’ She quickly added, ‘We slid it under the radar.’

The line almost didn’t make it into the final cut. According to Bell, the team had to downplay its suggestive nature to ensure it stayed in the song.

‘It almost didn’t make it in,’ she admitted. ‘But then we were like, “What are you talking about? That’s not what it means. Don’t be a perv.”‘

Ultimately, the lyric remained, adding a subtle, humorous touch to the film, which went on to become a Disney classic. Its sequel even became the highest-grossing animated film of all time.

Reflecting on her experience working on the two Frozen films, Bell shared with the outlet that she thoroughly enjoyed bringing Princess Anna to life.

‘I had always dreamed as many people do of being involved in a Disney animation film,’ she admitted.

‘They’re so formidable in your life when you’re young and I was obsessed with them,’ she continued. ‘I remember sitting in my living room on my little old boombox, like, recording myself singing, ‘]The Little Mermaid, in case I ever needed that tape.’

When Bell learned she had been cast as Princess Anna, she was over the moon with excitement.

‘It occurred to me that I would do anything they asked me to,’ she continued.

‘But what I should be valiantly striving for is to create a character that I really needed to see when I was 11 years old, which was someone like this character. Thankfully, they let me do it.’

Bell said she appreciated the collaborative process, noting that while some of her ideas were written into the character, she was also given creative freedom to bring those quirks to life.

Disney has announced the official release date for Frozen 3 – which will hit theaters on November 24, 2027 during the Thanksgiving holiday.

The latest update comes months after Disney’s CEO, Bob Iger, said last year in November that a fourth installment of the animated franchise is also in the works.
