Kyle and Jackie O stars reveal what generation they actually belong to after performing viral test

A radio producer has revealed a simple method that can pick anyone’s generation — and it only requires two words.

Kyle & Jackie O producer Pedro Vitola was discussing a TikTok trend he recently came across that asks people to finish the next line of lyrics after the phrase ‘hey now’.

‘Whatever your next line is to finish the lyrics, determines your generation,’ Pedro explained.

Host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson recited the lyrics of the 1998 Smash Mouth hit Rock Star, with, ‘Hey now, you’re a rock star, get your game on.’

The question was then posed to reporter Cooper Johns, whose answer revealed he may be a little older than his 25 years suggest.

‘I did, Hey Now Don’t Dream It’s Over by Crowded House,’ he admitted, which according to Pedro would put Cooper firmly in the boomer camp.

‘I swear Cooper is a boomer in disguise,’ Jackie O laughed.

‘You were telling me the other day that, on the way to work, you were listening to Kiss not the station KIIS the band Kiss.’

Cooper said his proclivity for ‘boomer’ tunes was ingrained into his ‘subconscious’, thanks to his Rugby League icon father Andrew Johns.

‘I’ve had a heavy influence from the Triple M era and even Mum and dad having house parties when I was eight years old,’ he said.

‘I’d fall asleep to this music in my room because they’re partying with all their friends. So it’s in my subconscious now.’

Jackie O meanwhile, fell firmly into the millennial camp with her Smash Mouth answer, which she was more than happy to accept.

Admitting that the ‘Shrek song’ didn’t even cross his mind, newsreader Brooklyn Ross chimed in with the 2003 Hilary Duff hit What Dreams are Made Of from the Lizzie McGuire Movie which, according to Pedro, meant he was well and truly a Gen Z or Gen Alpha.

‘I’m getting that because Damien loves Hilary Duff, so I’ve seen this lots of times,’ Brooklyn said referring to his partner Damien Dirienzo.

It comes after Jackie revealed the reason she was almost late to work on Wednesday morning.

Jackie was questioned by Pedro on Wednesday about why she ‘cut it fine’ after she arrived just minutes before she was due to go on air at 6am.

He also questioned whether Jackie had slept at a stranger’s house after she claimed she got lost on the way to the studio.

‘Lucky you’re even here. I got some weird text from you this morning [telling me you got lost],’ Pedro said.

‘We have a theory, you stayed at a bloke’s house. There is no way you get lost going on the same road every day.’

Jackie then explained she had entered a one way road after visiting a service station and wasn’t familiar with the area.

‘I had to go to a service station and as you come out there is a tram and you can’t cross over to the side I need,’ she said.

‘So I had to go in the wrong direction away from work and then found a side street and got lost,’ claimed the radio queen.
